Mike Napier Road Jersey; 1980-81

Another in a long line of Ultrafil Maska jerseys that the Canadiens would use throughout a given season that really allows the collector to “experience” the brutality of the sport.  Mark Napier road jersey from the 1980-81 season bears a praiseworthy and creditable 90-plus repairs throughout the body and arms, some intertwined into one- to two-inch entanglements.  This garment's interior pilling is virtually unprecedented in the field of jerseys that I have handled.  Crest is tattered and abused with red board paint and what looks to be blood stains.  Garter belt style fight strap is attached and shows pilling and slight rusting with salt deposits.  Napier joined the powerhouse Habs as an NHL rookie in 1978-79.  He scored 31 points in 54 games that season while often paired with fiery Doug Risebrough.  In the post-season, he played in 12 games and gathered his first of two Stanley Cups.  Mark was a member of the 1977-78 and 1978-79 Cup Champions.
